Lifeguard Instructor Training

The purpose of this course is to train instructor candidates to teach Lifeguard Training courses (including First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety, and Basic Water Rescue. This training prepares instructor candidates by developing their understanding of how to use course materials and methods, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participant's progress. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive authorization to teach the above material for two (2) calendar years. 

Course Prerequisites: Minimum age of 17, pass the pre-course written examination with a minimum of 80 percent. All instructor candidates must also perform all of the skills in the lifeguard instructor pre-course session. The skills in the pre-course session include: swimming, lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer. 

Course is scheduled for 20 hours. Online pre-course materials are required to be completed prior to the first day of class. All classes are mandatory.

**There are instructional materials that are required to be completed prior to attending the first scheduled day of the class. If the pre-course work is not completed prior to day one of class, entry into the class will be denied with no exceptions.**
