5:30 PM - 7:00 PM    Man Up - Man Up - Session 1
Program Description:Man Up is a confidential support group for young men to discuss issues, receive support, develop new skills, and form positive relationships with peers and mentors. This free program consists of 1.5 hour weekly sessions for 10 weeks and will take place at Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth & Community Services main office, located at 51 High St, Bristol CT 06010. Participants can be referred by school personnel, Bristol Youth and Community Services staff, and parents/guardians. The size of this group will range between ten to twelve adolescent males ages 11-13 years old. Man Up is created to act as a safe space for all participants to talk about hardships they are currently facing or have gone through in the past. Man Up looks to provide an opportunity for young men to bond with positive male role models while experiencing alternatives to think, feel, and do.About the Instructors: This program will be facilitated by Qur-an Webb, Youth & Community Services Independent Contractor, and Stephen Bynum, Youth & Community Services Supervisor.Program Benefits:- Assist participants in developing skills and techniques to manage stress and reduce reactive aggressive responses- Increase participants’ awareness of stress triggers and fight or flight reactive behaviors- Provide at risk middle school aged males a supportive, safe place to deal with the issues surrounding adolescence, along with positive male role models and/or mentors For more information, please contact Stephen Bynum by calling 860-314-4690 or emailing stephenbynum@bristolct.gov.

6:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Kids' Night Out - 04/19/24 - April Fools Comedy Night
Program Description:Calling all kids! Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services is hosting a Kids' Night Out on the 3rd Friday of the month. Parents and guardians can drop their children off from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM for dinner, games, arts and crafts, and more! Pizza will be provided for all participants. We are excited to announce the following theme nights for our Kids' Nights Out: - January 19, 2024 - Glow Night Celebration - February 16, 2024 - Super Bowl/Sports Night - March 15, 2024 - Buzz Worthy Kids' Night Out - April 19, 2024 - April Fools Comedy Night - May 17, 2024 - Decades Night with Tie DyeAbout the Staff:All staff working our Kids' Nights Out are CPR/First Aid certified and have many years of experience working with children. Staff are Paraprofessionals, Behavior Interventionists, education majors, and individuals that love working with children! Program Benefits:- Participants will interact with peers. - Participants will build friendships.- Participants will participate in passive and active recreation.

Program Description:Bristol-Burlington Health District, Chippens Hill Veterinary Hospital, and Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth & Community Services is excited to offer the Community Rabies Clinic on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Mrs. Rockwell's Pavilion. If your pet has never been vaccinated, they will receive a 1-year rabies vaccine. 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM    Self Defense - Self Defense - Session 3
Program Description: This class will teach protective tips on how to avoid confrontations as well as self-defense techniques when conflict cannot be avoided. No previous experience is necessary for this class. Please dress comfortably. About the Instructor:  Sensei Frank Shekosky has owned and operated Cromwell Martial Arts since 1993 and is a 9th degree black belt in karate. Sensei Frank has been inducted into the Middletown, CT Sports Hall Of Fame and into the USA Martial Arts Hall Of Fame.  Class Benefits: By the end of the course participants will be able to execute:- Hand strikes including but not limited to palm heel strikes, hammerfists, claws, and eye jabs- Front kicks, side kicks, and back kicks- Self defense techniques for wrist grabs, front chokes, chokes from behind, and bear hugs
