Bristol resident Raelynne Andrews promoted to Aquatics Supervisor  

Bristol, CT – [February 22, 2024] – The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Bristol resident Raelynne Andrews to assume the role of Aquatics Supervisor. The Aquatics Supervisor oversees the operations of the year-round indoor Dennis Malone Aquatics Center, Rockwell and Page Park pool. The supervisor schedules, coordinates and oversees an extensive learn to swim program, recreational swim team, water fitness classes, special events and rentals. The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, training and management of over 100 aquatics staff including lifeguards, water safety instructors, and front desk attendants.

Raelynne

Raelynne began her service to the BPRYCS department in 2011 where she served as a lifeguard and water safety instructor. Over the years she worked her way up through the ranks to become a Head Lifeguard and then to Aquatics Coordinator, a position she has held since 2019. In addition to her role as Aquatics Coordinator, Raelynne gained experience working in other health and wellness facilities including Big Sky Fitness Clubs and the Edge Fitness Club.

Over the course of her aquatics career Raelynne achieved the highest-level certifications in aquatics including American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer and Certified Pool Operator. In addition to her aquatics experience she graduated from Quinnipiac University in May 2020 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is now a licensed social worker.

Superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros stated, “I hired Raelynne as a lifeguard in 2011 and it’s been an absolute pleasure to watch her professional growth. Over the past 13 years, Raelynne has gained tremendous experience in the management of our city pools and brings fresh ideas for the future. She is well regarded by her colleagues, aquatics staff and our pool members. I’m incredibly pleased to be able to elevate Raelynne to this new role and am excited to work with her to continue to improve our aquatics operations.”

In anticipation of her new role, Raelynne said, “I am excited for the next chapter as Aquatic Supervisor and look forward to working closer with my community."
 
Raelynne begins her new role on Monday February 26, 2024 with an annual salary of $79,101.
